Ghanaian football powerhouses Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak have united in a strong call for enhanced security at match venues across the Ghana Premier League.

The two clubs have jointly prepared a position paper, set to be presented to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), urging immediate action to improve safety standards.

The initiative comes in the wake of the tragic death of Nana Pooley, a devoted Asante Kotoko supporter. Both clubs see this as a wake-up call for football authorities.

“This unfortunate incident is a painful reminder that we must do more to protect our fans,” the clubs said.

In a show of solidarity, Hearts of Oak extended condolences to Kotoko, assuring them that they would work together to push for meaningful reforms. “We will not allow Nana Pooley’s passing to be in vain,” the clubs mentioned in the statement.

With a crucial meeting scheduled with the GFA Executive Committee on February 6, the two clubs are urging swift action. “Football should be a safe and enjoyable experience for all. We call on the GFA, government, and law enforcement to collaborate in making this a reality,” the statement emphasized.
