Veteran Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo is in critical condition after being severely injured in a fire that broke out at his home on the night of February 7. The actor, who was asleep at the time, suffered burns to 44% of his body, including a respiratory injury that has affected his ability to breathe. He was immediately rushed to the hospital for urgent medical treatment.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Beyond Burns International, an NGO supporting burn survivors across Africa, has launched a fundraising campaign to assist with the actor’s medical costs.

Judith Cato Addison, the Executive Director of Beyond Burns International, visited Semevo in hospital and described his condition as life-threatening. In a video posted on the organisation’s social media, she explained that the actor had suffered severe burns from head to toe, including the loss of all his hair and significant facial injuries.

“We came here today and veteran actor Mawuli Semevo has been involved in a severe fire accident. His life is hanging in the balance,” she said.

Donations for Semevo’s treatment can be made via Merchant ID 716049 (Beyond Burns International) with the reference “Mawuli.”

Semevo’s family and fans are holding out hope for his recovery as he continues to fight for his life.
