Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has sparked controversy with a recent statement about DNA testing, claiming that any woman who refuses to undergo a DNA test for her child is “hiding something.”

In an Instagram post on February 21, Edochie wrote: “Any woman who refuses to do a DNA test on her child when it is demanded, is hiding something. Don’t fall for any excuse she gives to you. She is hiding something. A clear conscience fears nothing.”

The post quickly ignited a debate on social media, with some users supporting his viewpoint, while others criticised the actor, pointing to the irony of his statement given his own personal circumstances. Mr. Edochie’s highly publicised marriage to May Edochie, with whom he has four children, has been marred by controversy. In April 2022, the actor introduced Judy Austin as his second wife, revealing the birth of their son, which led to public backlash.

May Edochie, who had been married to Yul for over 17 years, later filed for divorce in 2023, citing emotional distress and betrayal.

Mr. Edochie’s comments have added fuel to ongoing discussions about his personal life, with many questioning the implications of his remarks.
