The oxygen plant at the 37 Military Hospital is now fully operational, Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah has confirmed. This development comes as a significant boost to the hospital’s healthcare services.

Dr. Boamah highlighted that the restoration reflects President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to strengthening human security and improving Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure. During a recent visit to the hospital, Dr. Boamah discovered that the oxygen plant had been out of service, threatening the supply of oxygen to surgical theatres, Intensive Care Units (ICUs), hospital wards, and the National Ambulance Service.

In response, Dr. Boamah, who is a medical doctor, took swift action. Following the urgent situation, President Mahama directed the Ministry of Defence to collaborate with the National Security Coordinator to ensure there were no disruptions in oxygen supply. New equipment was procured and installed to secure a consistent and reliable oxygen supply for the hospital and ambulance services.

In a Facebook post, Dr. Boamah expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, stating: “I’m excited to announce that we have resolved the issue thanks to our proactive measures. There will be no bad news. We remain committed to tackling challenges, including those caused by economic mismanagement.”
