Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been appointed as the Director of Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness at the Presidency.
Announcing the news on his Facebook page on March 1, 2025, Dr. Otokunor expressed his gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to serve in his government. He pledged to dedicate his skills, experience, and energy to the role, emphasizing his commitment to advancing the President’s vision for agriculture and agribusiness in Ghana.
“I promise to commit every bit of my knowledge, skills, experience and energy to this new role to deliver on his vision,” Otokunor wrote, thanking his supporters for their well-wishes.
In this new position, Dr. Otokunor will oversee all initiatives related to agriculture and agribusiness at the Office of the President. With a distinguished background as an Agricultural Economist, Chartered Financial Economist, and Policy Analyst, Otokunor brings over 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors to the role.
He holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ghana and has held leadership roles in the NDC, including serving as Deputy General Secretary and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority. He has also been a key player in various NDC campaigns and manifesto committees.
