The Bank of Ghana’s new headquarters, currently under construction, has incurred a total cost of $261.8 million, with the state having paid $230 million to the contractor as of February 2025, according to Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, the bank’s newly appointed governor. The outstanding balance of $31.8 million remains due to the construction firm.

In a recent statement to parliament on March 5, Dr. Asiama revealed that the payments to the contractor had been made as recently as last month, as the project approaches completion.

Additionally, the project has seen significant expenditures beyond the core building. The government has paid $48.3 million in taxes and levies, with further investments including an Integrated Communication and Computing system and Network Infrastructure ($8.6 million), integrated electronic security systems ($15.8 million), and furniture and furnishings ($11.1 million).

Dr. Asiama emphasized that these investments are integral to equipping the Bank of Ghana with the modern infrastructure necessary for its role as the nation’s central bank. The facility is designed to meet the security and technological needs of a contemporary financial institution, symbolizing the country’s economic strength.

The state-of-the-art facility, located in Accra, was inaugurated in November 2024 by former President Nana Akufo-Addo. The building is intended to serve as the new headquarters for the Bank of Ghana, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s evolution since its founding in 1957.
