Media personality Kofi Adoma Nwanwani broke his silence Thursday on the tragic accident that left him with a severe eye injury, revealing the emotional and physical toll of the ordeal.
Speaking at an emergency press conference, Adoma explained the circumstances of the incident and reflected on his recovery process.
The event, which occurred in December 2024, took place while Adoma was covering the Dormaa Kwafie festival in the Bono Region. During the coverage, he was accidentally struck in the face by a musket shot, resulting in substantial damage to his eyes and requiring several surgeries.
Adoma, visibly emotional, recounted the traumatic experience, emphasizing how close he came to losing his life. “When I looked at the people gathered here today, all I could think was that this could have been my funeral,” he said. “I recently heard of a similar incident in Nungua where the victim didn’t survive. I can only say that God loves me.”
Acknowledging the uncertainty of his future, Adoma chose to speak out now, driven by a fear that his health may soon take another turn for the worse. “As I stand before you, my head hurts terribly,” he continued. “I’ve decided to speak before whatever may happen, happens. At least if I speak now, my truth is already shared. The narratives surrounding the incident have been deeply troubling.”
Despite his ongoing recovery, Adoma’s gratitude was clear, as he reflected on the fragility of life and the unexpected second chance he had been granted.
