The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has issued a stern warning to former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, stating that he will be re-listed as a wanted person if he fails to appear for questioning on June 2, 2025.

In a statement addressing a lawsuit filed by Ofori-Atta himself, challenging his earlier declaration as a fugitive, the OSP explained that it had removed his name from the wanted list in good faith. This decision followed a formal request from Ofori-Atta, who promised to make himself available for questioning on a specific date.

“The OSP, acting in good faith and relying on Mr. Ofori-Atta’s assurance, removed his name from the wanted list, pending his attendance at the OSP on a fixed date,” the agency said in the statement.

However, the OSP made it clear that Mr.Ofori-Atta is now “mandatorily required” to appear before them on June 2. Failure to do so would result in his name being added back to the wanted list, with the OSP deeming him a fugitive from justice. Should that occur, the OSP would initiate an Interpol Red Notice and pursue extradition proceedings wherever he might be located.

“The OSP remains resolute in its commitment to enforcing the law and holding Mr. Ofori-Atta accountable for his involvement as the prime suspect in multiple corruption-related investigations,” the statement emphasized.

Ofori-Atta has been embroiled in several ongoing investigations into alleged financial misconduct and corruption, accusations he vehemently denies. In response to the OSP’s earlier declaration, he filed a lawsuit seeking an injunction to prevent the agency from re-listing him as a wanted person, arguing that the OSP’s actions have tarnished his reputation and caused considerable harm to his personal life.

In court documents, Ofori-Atta asserts that the OSP’s actions were unjustified, and he is seeking to prevent any further declarations until the legal process is fully resolved.
