The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed its members to stop discussing internal grievances in the media following the party’s recent election defeat.

In a strongly worded statement, General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong warned that any member who violates this directive will face disciplinary action.

“The New Patriotic Party (NPP) acknowledges the disappointment and emotional distress caused by our defeat in the last election,” Frimpong stated. “However, we humbly ask that all party faithful remain calm so that cooler heads may prevail at this time.”

This comes after revelations made by the former Member of Parliament for the Dome Kwabenya constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo, during a radio interview.

In her interview, the former Minster for Gender, Children and Social Protection alleged widespread corruption and mismanagement within the School Feeding Programme, stating that former President Akufo-Addo initially requested an audit but later distanced himself from it.

Citing the party’s constitution, Mr. Frimpong emphasized that members are obligated to “promote and defend the good name of the party” and should refrain from actions that create “unrest, negativism, and disaffection.”

Going forward, he stated, “National, Regional, and Constituency Party leadership shall respectively refer any member who violates this directive to the appropriate disciplinary committees of the party.”
