A joint operation led by Ghana’s National Security has resulted in the arrest of twelve Chinese nationals and one Ghanaian in connection with the missing containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) at the Tema Port.
The suspects, associated with two aluminum smelting firms located in Shai Hills, were taken into custody during a targeted operation on Thursday. Investigators traced cables, suspected to be part of the missing shipment, to one of the Chinese-owned smelting plants, located near the Shai Hills Game Reserve.
These cables were reportedly melted down into aluminium bars, intended for export.

Authorities have also launched a manhunt for another Chinese national involved in the operation, who remains at large.
