British filmmaker and actor Idris Elba is on a mission to transform Africa’s film industry, and he is looking to Ghana as a perfect destination.

Elba has been in Accra this past week, engaging in high-level discussions with President John Dramani Mahama about his ambitious vision—a state-of-the-art film and creative village near Osu Castle.

The proposed hub aims to be a game-changer for African cinema, offering top-tier training, employment opportunities, and a dedicated creative arts school.

The “Beast of No Nation” star envisions a space where emerging filmmakers, actors, and production experts can refine their craft and elevate African storytelling to a global stage.

The initiative, if realized, could position Ghana as a leading force in African filmmaking, attracting international collaborations and investment.
