The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has agreed to release two Members of Parliament (MPs) to the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for questioning.

Mustapha Yussif, MP for Yagaba Kubori, and Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus), MP for Gomoa Central, are set to appear before NIB officials on Monday, 7th April 2025, at 10:00 AM for a preliminary meeting at the Sir Emmanuel Charles Quist Conference Room in Parliament.

The decision follows a request made by the NIB, which was formally acknowledged by the Speaker in a letter dated 2nd April 2025. The communication also outlined that the MPs’ legal representatives would be allowed to attend the interaction.

The letter, signed by Parliament’s Clerk, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, noted that the Speaker had considered constitutional provisions and existing protocols with security agencies in granting approval for the MPs’ release. However, it did not provide specific details regarding the nature of the investigation or the reasons for involving the MPs.

The MPs are expected to cooperate with the NIB as part of the investigation process.
