Two students at the Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School in Bantama, Ashanti Region, have been injured in a shooting incident on Friday, April 4, 2025.

The shooting occurred during break time when Bernard Amoabeng, a second-year student, allegedly brought a firearm to the school. Sources within the school suggest that a dispute broke out among students over whether the weapon was operational. In an attempt to demonstrate its functionality, Amoabeng reportedly fired the gun, accidentally injuring two students.

One of the victims, Penamang, sustained a serious gunshot wound to her forehead. She was initially taken to Kwadaso Hospital but was later referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital due to the severity of her injuries.

The police have arrested Amoabeng and launched a full investigation into the incident. Local authorities have expressed concern over the increasing use of firearms in schools and have vowed to strengthen security measures.
