Sammy Gyamfi, NDC’s National Communications Officer, has called for the arrest of Rev. Fordjour, unless he can substantiate his claims. Mr.Gyamfi argued on Joy Newsfile that in any other jurisdiction, such serious accusations against a sitting government would face severe legal repercussions if proven false. “In other jurisdictions, he would have been blacklisted,”Mr.  Gyamfi remarked, emphasizing the need for accountability.

The NDC official further demanded that if the MP does not comply with a National Security invitation to provide evidence, he should be arrested. “If he refuses to honor the invitation from National Security, we will insist on his arrest,” Gyamfi asserted. “He cannot hide behind parliamentary privilege.”

However, Rev. Fordjour, who is also the Ranking Member on the Defence Committee, rejected Mr.Gyamfi’s call. “Sammy, I dare you to call them to come and arrest me right here on the show,” he shot back, challenging the political rhetoric on live television.

The dispute follows mounting pressure from the Minority in Parliament for greater transparency from National Security, particularly regarding the prolonged stay of an air ambulance and a private jet in Ghana before their departure to Gran Canaria, Spain. Rev. Fordjour, citing intelligence reports, suggested the aircraft could have been used to transport illicit goods, including cocaine and large sums of U.S. currency.

Government officials, including Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, have dismissed the allegations as unfounded, accusing Fordjour of spreading disinformation without evidence.

The controversy highlights the deepening political divide as the NDC demands clarity, while the ruling government dismisses the accusations as baseless.
