A High Court in Koforidua has dismissed an election petition challenging the victory of Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Member of Parliament for the Nsawam/Adoagyiri Constituency, affirming his legitimacy as the elected representative.

The ruling, delivered on Thursday, 10 April by Justice Addae, followed a legal challenge filed by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), which alleged that the Electoral Commission had declared the results based on incorrect result sheets and in violation of electoral laws.

The NDC’s case was led by parliamentary candidate Fummey Selorm Philibert, who argued that the election outcome was flawed and demanded a review. The petition named Annoh-Dompreh, the Electoral Commission, and the Clerk of Parliament as respondents.

In response, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Director of Legal Affairs, Gary Nimako Marfo, filed an application defending Annoh-Dompreh’s victory—a position that the court ultimately upheld.

The court not only dismissed the petition but also ordered the petitioner to pay a cost of GH₵25,000, bringing an end to the legal proceedings.

This decision reinforces Annoh-Dompreh’s position as the MP for the constituency and marks a significant win for the ruling NPP, as the opposition party had earlier vowed to pursue all legal avenues to overturn the election result.

The Electoral Commission has not publicly commented on the court’s ruling.
