President John Dramani Mahama marked Mother’s Day on Sunday with a call for national unity in supporting women and children, pledging to prioritize policies aimed at improving their well-being.

In a statement released on May 11, Mr. Mahama praised the resilience and dedication of mothers across Ghana and beyond, describing them as central to the country’s development. “Happy Mother’s Day to all the tireless mothers working to build a better future for their children,” he said.

The  president acknowledged the everyday challenges many women face, adding that their perseverance continues to inspire both families and communities.

Mr. Mahama, who is running for a return to office in the upcoming national elections, used the occasion to underscore his policy focus on maternal and child welfare. He highlighted healthcare, education, and economic opportunity as critical areas in need of reform and investment.

“As we celebrate our mothers today, let us renew our commitment to building a Ghana where every mother and child has the opportunity to thrive,” he said.

He also urged Ghanaians to reflect on the contributions of the women who raised them, encouraging citizens to show appreciation not just in words but through actions that support the well-being of women nationwide.
