The Electoral Commission (EC) has replaced Yasarko Press with two other firms for the printing of ballot papers in preparation for Ghana’s 2024 elections. This change comes after Yasarko Press experienced technical issues with key equipment needed for the production.

Initially, Yasarko Press was tasked with printing both presidential and parliamentary ballot papers for the Oti and Western North regions. However, after reporting equipment malfunction last week, Yasarko and the EC mutually agreed that the company would withdraw from the printing contract.

As a result, Buck Press and Acts Commercials have been appointed to handle the printing duties for the two regions. The EC has allocated the Oti region’s ballot papers to Buck Press and those for the Western North region to Acts Commercials.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, 27 October 2024, Samuel Tettey, the EC’s Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations, confirmed the decision. Tettey stated that both Buck Press and Acts Commercials possess the necessary expertise, assuring that the revised arrangements will not disrupt the schedule for ballot production.

Yasarko Press has been a long-time partner of the EC, handling ballot paper printing since 1998. However, the EC believes the new arrangement will maintain the integrity and timeline of the election preparations.
