Ghana has begun preparations to evacuate its citizens from Qatar amid rising security concerns across parts of the Middle East, according to a notice issued by the country’s embassy in Doha.

In a statement dated March 15, the embassy said the move follows an earlier advisory released on March 6 regarding the region’s evolving security situation. Officials described the evacuation as a precautionary measure.

The planned operation will be a one-way transfer from Qatar to Ghana, the embassy said.
Ghanaians residing in Qatar who wish to participate have been asked to reconfirm their interest by submitting the biodata page of their passports via email. The embassy directed applicants to send the information to doha@mfa.gov.gh no later than Tuesday, March 17.

Authorities did not specify the number of citizens expected to be evacuated or provide details on the timing of the flights.

The announcement comes as governments review contingency plans for nationals living in parts of the Middle East amid heightened regional security concerns.
