President John Dramani Mahama on Friday urged world leaders to intensify diplomatic efforts to end ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, warning that prolonged instability in the region threatens global security.

Addressing worshippers during Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at Black Star Square, Mr. Mahama called for restraint and dialogue, emphasizing the humanitarian toll of the violence. He cited the loss of civilian lives, including women and children, as well as widespread displacement and разрушed communities.

“Our thoughts are with those impacted by the continued conflict,” he said, appealing for prayers and international cooperation to bring an end to hostilities. He also invoked key global figures, including Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu and Mojtaba Khamenei, urging a collective push toward peace.

Mr. Mahama added that instability in one region can have far-reaching consequences, calling for stronger global coordination to counter violent extremism.

Separately, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, spokesperson for the National Chief Imam, pressed the government to address domestic challenges, including illegal mining and rising drug abuse. He warned that substance abuse is increasingly affecting young people, particularly within the Muslim community, and called for urgent intervention to curb its spread.
