Ghana’s Black Stars were handed a 5-1 defeat by Austria in an international friendly on Friday, leaving fans frustrated and concerned about the team’s defensive frailties.

Austria set the tone early, with Marcel Sabitzer striking in the 13th minute. The European side kept the pressure on after the break, with Michael Gregoritsch doubling the lead in the 51st minute and Stephan Posch making it 3-0 just eight minutes later.

Ghana briefly offered a spark of hope when Andre Ayew scored in the 77th minute to make it 3-1. But that hope was quickly extinguished, as Carney Chukwuemeka restored Austria’s three-goal advantage two minutes later, followed by Nicholas Selwand sealing the emphatic 5-1 win in stoppage time.

The lopsided scoreline highlighted serious defensive issues for the Black Stars, with repeated lapses in concentration leaving them exposed. Fans are hoping the team will take lessons from the loss and regroup ahead of their next international clash against Germany.
