The  Ministry of Interior has designated Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as statutory public holidays in observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday, marking this year’s Easter period.

In a statement issued March 30, the ministry said the holidays would be observed nationwide, allowing Christians to commemorate the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ—central events in the Christian faith.

Good Friday, falling on April 3, marks the crucifixion, while Easter Monday on April 6 continues the celebrations following the resurrection.
Easter in Ghana is typically characterized by church services, family gatherings and social festivities. Popular destinations such as Kwahu are expected to draw large crowds for annual celebrations.

The Interior Minister urged the public to observe the holidays in accordance with the law while reflecting on the season’s spiritual significance. The statement reaffirmed that both dates are statutory public holidays and should be recognized as such across the country.
