Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has called on his supporters to refrain from criticising veteran highlife musician Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, following remarks that sparked debate within the country’s music industry.
Ambolley had questioned Shatta Wale’s use of a title associated with a genre that originated in Jamaica, prompting widespread discussion among fans and commentators.
In a Facebook post published on 2 April 2026, Shatta Wale urged calm and discouraged any form of disrespect towards the highlife icon.
“Please, nobody should attack him, no disrespect please,” he wrote.

The musician also expressed longstanding admiration for Ambolley, noting that his respect for the veteran performer dates back to his childhood.
“I loved this man from infancy and I can’t and will never disrespect his views,” he added.
Shatta Wale concluded his message by emphasising unity and mutual respect, thanking Ambolley and describing the situation as “all love.”
