Mfantsipim School, also known as BOTWE, has clinched its third National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) trophy after a thrilling comeback in the 2024 competition. The Cape Coast-based school triumphed over St. Augustine’s College (AUGUSCO) and Keta Senior High School (KETASCO) in a nail-biting final held on Thursday.
Trailing AUGUSCO by a single point through to the fifth and final round, Mfantsipim managed to snatch victory in the closing moments by correctly answering the penultimate riddle question. This crucial point lifted BOTWE to a narrow lead, edging AUGUSCO by just one point. Mfantsipim finished with a total of 47 points, while St. Augustine’s came in second with 46 points, and Keta SHS followed in third place with 32 points.
Alongside the prestigious trophy, Mfantsipim was awarded GHC10,000 by Pepsodent, the competition sponsor, for scoring the highest points of the day.
