Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC),John Dramani Mahama has renewed his pledge to address corruption if elected, with a promise to investigate and prosecute corrupt officials.
Speaking at a Governance Forum in Accra on Thursday, 31 October, Mahama outlined his strategy to tackle graft, pledging to bring in both local and international investigators to enhance transparency and accountability. He proposed a new initiative, “Operation Recover All the Loot,” which he described as a key tool for identifying and prosecuting corrupt officials.
Mahama’s anti-corruption plan also includes legislation that would ban political appointees from purchasing state assets, a measure aimed at curbing potential conflicts of interest. Additionally, he vowed to create a state assets registrar to streamline the management and oversight of public assets.
“I am committed to eliminating the scourge of corruption,” Mahama said. “Operation Recover All the Loot will make corruption a high-risk endeavour, ensuring that those who misuse public funds are held accountable.”
