Manchester United has officially announced the appointment of Ruben Amorim as Head Coach of the men’s first team, marking the beginning of an exciting new era at Old Trafford.
Amorim, widely recognized as one of Europe’s brightest young coaches, is set to take over on November 11, pending work visa approval. His contract extends through June 2027, with an option for an additional year.
“Ruben is an exceptional talent with a winning mentality,” a statement from the club read. “His success in Portugal, particularly his record-breaking title win with Sporting CP, speaks to his ability to inspire teams and deliver results.”
At just 39, Amorim has built an impressive resume, winning the Primeira Liga twice with Sporting CP—including their first title in 19 years—an achievement that made him a fan favorite in Portugal and caught the attention of major European clubs.
Known for his tactical innovation and ability to develop young players, Amorim brings a fresh perspective to Manchester United’s lineup.
Former United star Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to lead the team on an interim basis until Amorim’s arrival. “It’s an honor to help guide the team until Ruben joins,” van Nistelrooy said. “The players are excited, and we’re all looking forward to this next chapter.”
As anticipation builds, United fans are eager to see Amorim’s influence on the club, hoping for a return to glory.
