The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced the completion of the final certified voters register for the 2024 general election, declaring it “robust and credible” as preparations continue for the December polls.

In a formal presentation to political parties on Wednesday, 6 November, EC Chair Jean Mensa emphasised the importance of transparency and accuracy in the electoral process, saying, “We now have a robust and credible final certified voters register, which is fit to deliver a credible, transparent, fair, peaceful, and glorious election come December 7, 2024.”

She acknowledged the EC’s commitment to timely preparation, citing “the help of God” as a factor in the register’s completion.

The certified register was shared with political parties in digital form, meeting the EC’s promise of early November delivery. This timeline, Mensa noted, provides ample time for political parties to review the final voter data ahead of election day.

The EC had re-exhibited a revised provisional register last month, which resulted in 158 reported issues from registered voters. According to Mensa, each of these issues has since been resolved, and no further concerns were raised by political parties, affirming the register’s readiness and acceptance.
