Sporting CP names João Pereira as new head coach

Portuguese champions Sporting CP has appointed João Pereira to succeed Ruben Amorim who is set to join Manchester United.

The 40-year-old former right-back has been part of Sporting’s coaching staff since retiring from playing in 2021 and most recently served as the club’s B team coach.

During his playing days, Pereira featured 40 times for Portugal, played for clubs like Benfica, Valencia, Sporting CP, and Trabzonspor.
