Renowned American actor Denzel Washington has expressed concern over the influence of social media on the younger generation, describing it as a significant challenge for today’s youth.

In a recent interview with Mescal, Washington lamented the pervasive impact of social media platforms, which he believes have introduced unprecedented pressures on young people. Reflecting on his own upbringing, the Oscar-winning actor noted that he did not have to contend with the constant opinions and scrutiny that social media fosters.

“I pray for your generation because we did not have to deal with what you’ve to deal with. It’s our fault to put it in your hands,” he said.

Washington, who revealed he has never owned an Instagram or LinkedIn account, highlighted the detrimental effects of the relentless online culture. “There weren’t nine million opinions every moment of my day. People who liked you one minute suddenly hate you, and you don’t even understand why,” he added.

The actor’s remarks underscore his broader concerns about the emotional toll social media can take on mental health, particularly among young users. Washington’s candid comments have resonated with audiences, sparking further debate on the role of digital platforms in modern society.
