The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has dismissed rumors of a strained relationship between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Manhyia Palace, following speculation of friction.

During a visit by NDC presidential candidate John Mahama as part of his tour of the Ashanti Region, the Asantehene, speaking through a linguist, clarified that there was no discord between the NDC and the Palace. He emphasized that Mahama’s visit would put to rest any such claims, stating, “The NDC is not on good terms with Manhyia. It is not so, and he has said it all.”

The Asantehene also called for vigilance during the upcoming elections, underscoring that success at the polls is determined at the polling stations.

Meanwhile, Mahama refuted accusations linking him to the alleged attack on the Asantehene’s convoy in Techiman on Monday. He dismissed a video circulating on social media, calling it fake and AI-generated, and described it as an attempt to tarnish both his and the NDC’s reputation.

Police reports suggest that the incident occurred as the Asantehene’s convoy was returning from a funeral in Nkoranza, with some youths, believed to be from Techiman, throwing stones at the vehicles.
