Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on Ghana’s outgoing administration, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, to vacate the presidency and Jubilee House.
Speaking at a press briefing on Sunday morning, Gyamfi declared that the NDC had secured victory in the presidential election and was making significant strides in the parliamentary race. He urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to accept defeat and step aside to allow the incoming NDC government to take office in early 2025.
“You have lost, and it is time to pack your things and leave Jubilee House,” Gyamfi stated.
He also called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to expedite the declaration of the election results to prevent further unrest, following violent clashes between supporters of the two main parties in some constituencies. At least one person has been reported dead, with others injured, in the Ashanti Region.
“Please, Madam (EC Chairperson), do the needful, and direct your officers to fast-track the process,” Gyamfi appealed.
Provisional results indicate that the NDC is leading in both the presidential and parliamentary elections. Gyamfi also urged Civil Society Organisations, including the media, to press the EC for a prompt announcement of the official results.
