Edward Ennim, a former Member of Parliament for Obuasi East and a prominent figure in Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP), has launched a scathing critique of President Nana Akufo-Addo, blaming him for the party’s recent electoral defeat.

Speaking on TV3, Ennim accused Akufo-Addo of undermining the party by what he described as poor decision making by the President.

“The moment I saw that he was supporting a CPP member to become the party’s chairman, I realized he won’t help the party,” Ennim declared.

He also criticized the NPP’s choice of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as its presidential candidate, claiming it was a strategic misstep that alienated key party stalwarts.

“The way they sidelined some stalwarts of the party caused the party’s defeat,” he said, suggesting that internal divisions were a major factor in the party’s poor performance.
