A break-in at the Forestry Commission depot in Achimota, Accra, has resulted in the theft of several valuable items, including air conditioners and laptops.

According to anonymous sources, the intruders, reportedly wearing branded shirts of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and chanting, “Our government is now in power,” stormed the facility early on Monday morning. Among the stolen items were 24 air conditioners and essential office equipment. The perpetrators also attempted to steal the keys to newly acquired vehicles but were unsuccessful.

The incident has raised concerns about the security of state-owned properties, particularly in the wake of Ghana’s political transition following the 2024 elections. Authorities have yet to confirm whether the break-in is politically motivated.

Police responded promptly to the scene, securing the area and launching an investigation into the theft. The Forestry Commission has not yet made an official statement, and further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
