A heavy security presence has been established at the Ghana Gas Company headquarters in Accra following a standoff involving angry youth attempting to storm the premises.

Soldiers and police officers were deployed after clashes erupted between the group and security personnel. The military’s presence is aimed at maintaining order and preventing further escalation.

Kwadwo Twum Boafo, former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, who lives in the area, was contacted by local residents about the incident. He speculated that the youth involved were supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and urged them to reconsider their actions. He warned that such conduct would not benefit President-elect Mahama, adding, “Let’s not create more problems for him than he has to solve.”

Eyewitnesses reported that the crowd tried to force their way into the offices of the Ghana National Gas Company Limited (GNGCL), prompting security forces to fire warning shots to disperse the group.

The authorities have not yet provided an official statement on the incident, and the motives behind the attempted intrusion remain unclear. Security forces continue to monitor the situation closely.
