President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged Ghanaians to unite and build a nation that can inspire others, as he begins the process of handing over power to the incoming government.

Speaking at the inauguration of the transition team in Accra on Wednesday, Mr Akufo-Addo emphasised the importance of collective effort and national pride in advancing Ghana’s development.

The outgoing president highlighted Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy and stability, while acknowledging that significant challenges remain in the country’s developmental journey.

“We must continue to consolidate our hard-earned reputation by strictly adhering to the provisions of the Transition Act,” he told assembled officials.

Mr Akufo-Addo called on citizens to support the transition process “with patience, understanding and faith in the institutions that underpin our republic”.

The transition marks the transfer of power to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), following recent elections. Ghana continues to be viewed as a model of democratic stability in West Africa, with peaceful power transfers becoming a hallmark of the nation’s political maturity.

The president’s remarks underscored a message of national unity and continued progress, urging Ghanaians to remain committed to building a nation that can serve as an inspiration on the global stage.
