A young man has been arrested after allegedly vandalising several vehicles and other property on the premises of the Ghanaian Parliament in Accra.
The suspect, who was dressed in white clothing, reportedly smashed the windscreens and windows of around seven cars parked outside the parliamentary buildings. Eyewitnesses suggested that the man appeared to be mentally impaired, though the exact motive behind the incident remains unclear.
As he was being escorted away by police officers, the suspect was heard shouting, “Daddy don’t kill them. Daddy don’t destroy my people,” while looking up to the sky.
Police quickly intervened to prevent further damage, and the suspect was taken into custody. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
