A group of clergymen has urged Ghana’s Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, not to be discouraged by the outcome of the 2024 elections. The pastors, representing various Christian denominations, visited Dr. Bawumia at his residence on December 24, 2024, to offer words of encouragement.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Apostle George Apasera acknowledged that Dr. Bawumia had given his best effort during the campaign but stressed that the election result was part of “the sovereign will of God.” Apasera reassured him that the outcome was “not the end of the road,” highlighting his political maturity and efforts throughout the election.

“You embarked on this journey with a strong start and received great support, especially from the Christian community. Although the result did not go in your favor, you have done your best, and we commend you for that,” Apasera said.

The pastors also praised Dr. Bawumia’s early concession, which they noted helped to ease national tension following the election results. They expressed admiration for his political maturity and resilience, noting his continued optimism and energy despite the setback.

“We are grateful for your early concession. It calmed a lot of tension, and we are confident that you have demonstrated significant political maturity,” the pastors added, before offering their blessings to Dr. Bawumia and his family.
