In a heartfelt message, Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of Nigeria’s Labour Party, extended his warm congratulations to John Dramani Mahama as he took the oath of office as President of Ghana.

Mr. Obi’s statement, shared on his social media, highlighted the significance of Mahama’s election, emphasizing the collective voice of Ghanaians seeking a transformative change in their country’s leadership.

“On December 7th, 2024, the people of Ghana spoke loudly in an unmistakable voice that they wanted a reset of their country and gave you the mandate to do it,” Obi noted, reflecting on the decisive election that brought Mahama back to power.

He expressed hope that Mahama would prioritize the welfare of the people, urging him to be a beacon of exemplary leadership committed to inclusive development.

Obi’s message was not just a congratulatory note but a call to action, encouraging Mahama to align his leadership with the vision of Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah, for a stronger and more prosperous Africa.

“May your leadership continue to illuminate the path for a stronger Ghana and a better Africa,” Obi concluded, underscoring the broader implications of Mahama’s tenure for the continent.
