The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), in collaboration with the Klottey Korley Assembly and the Osu Traditional Council, has officially commissioned the first phase of the Accra Leisure and Recreational Park, also known as Geese Park.

Located in the Osu enclave, the park is set to feature a range of modern amenities, including a snack shop, a restaurant, an event centre, a children’s playground, a zoo, and a skating park. The development aims to enhance tourism in the region, with plans for the park to be connected to the nearby Asomdwoee Park.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by key figures in the tourism sector, including former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, and current CEO of the GTA, Akwasi Agyeman. Koku Anyidoho and other board members and staff of the GTA were also present.

In his address, former Minister Mercer hailed the park as a significant milestone in Ghana’s tourism development. He acknowledged the contributions made by the GTA, particularly under the leadership of Akwasi Agyeman, in promoting tourism over the past eight years.

Agyeman, in turn, emphasised the GTA’s broader vision of using tourism to showcase Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and history. He noted that the park, along with other redevelopment projects such as the Kwame Nkrumah Museum and Nationalism Park, plays a key role in this initiative.
