President John Dramani Mahama has revealed plans to establish a committee responsible for organising a National Constitutional Review Validation Conference, aimed at securing broad consensus on proposed constitutional amendments.

The conference is part of Mahama’s administration’s broader effort to strengthen Ghana’s justice system and address systemic inequalities. Speaking at the 92nd Jalsa Salana of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana in Gomoa Pomadze, Winneba, on Thursday, January 9, the President highlighted the importance of advancing the stalled constitutional review process to ensure judicial independence and fairness.

“The new NDC administration is committed to strengthening our justice system, and to achieve this, we must move forward with the stalled constitutional review process,” Mahama said.

The President stated that the National Constitutional Review Validation Conference will serve as a platform to engage stakeholders and ensure that any constitutional amendments reflect the collective will of the people.

“I will soon establish a committee to plan the conference and build broad consensus on the proposed amendments,” he confirmed.

Mahama also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring a justice system where all citizens, regardless of their background, are treated with dignity and fairness.

“Justice and peace are fundamental to our national aspirations,” he said, quoting the Quran: “We are called to uphold justice, even against ourselves.” He stressed that justice must not only be done but must also be seen and felt by all, guiding every decision, law, and interaction in the nation.
