President John Dramani Mahama has directed the immediate recall of all Diplomatic and Service Passports issued during the previous government.

The directive, signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, was communicated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

This move is part of efforts to streamline the issuance of official travel documents and ensure they align with national and international standards. The government aims to prevent the misuse of these passports and safeguard the country’s diplomatic integrity.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been tasked with notifying passport holders, who are required to return the documents by January 24, 2025. A verification process will follow to confirm compliance with current eligibility criteria.

Diplomatic and Service Passports are typically issued to government officials, diplomats, and high-ranking individuals representing Ghana on official business.
