The Minority in Parliament has accused Bernard Ahiafor, Chairman of the Appointments Committee, of displaying bias and partisanship during the vetting of ministerial nominees.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday,January 15, Gideon Boako, MP for Tano North, criticised Ahiafor for obstructing the committee’s ability to conduct a thorough and impartial vetting process. He claimed the Chairman was overly protective of the nominees and hindered scrutiny by denying committee members the opportunity to ask important questions.

Boako also cited incidents where the Chairman allegedly shouted at MPs, including a confrontation with MP Abena Osei-Asare, in an attempt to push the nominees through without proper examination.

The Minority has called for a more transparent and fair vetting process, insisting that parliamentary oversight must be respected to ensure accountability in government.
