Anthony Sarpong has been named Acting Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), effective immediately, following the resignation of Julie Essiam.

Sarpong, a Senior Partner at auditing firm KPMG, takes over from Essiam, who stepped down from the position on January 20, 2024. In her resignation letter, addressed to the President through the Finance Minister-designate, Essiam expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve after five and a half years at the GRA.

Essiam, who was appointed by former President Akufo-Addo in March 2024, served in the role for less than a year. She previously led the GRA’s Support Services Division and noted the Authority’s revenue achievements during her tenure, particularly in the 2024 fiscal year.
