The Appointments Committee of Parliament will today, Wednesday, January 22,2025 vet two ministers-designate, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare.
Lartey, nominated for the role of Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, and Ofosu-Adjare, nominated as Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industries, were originally scheduled to appear before the committee on Tuesday. The delay was due to extended discussions on other nominees and additional parliamentary duties.
The committee proceeded with the vetting of Ahmed Ibrahim, the Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Local Affairs, on Tuesday, and assured the public that all rescheduled vettings would go ahead as planned on Wednesday.
The Appointments Committee continues to review President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial nominees, with the aim of finalising appointments and strengthening governance in the new administration.
Meanwhile, Parliament has already approved six key ministerial nominees, including:
Haruna Iddrisu as Minister for Education,
Governs Kwame Agbodza as Minister for Roads and Highways,
Eric Opoku as Minister for Food and Agriculture,
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister for Finance,
Dr. Dominic Ayine as Attorney General and Minister for Justice, and
John Jinapor as Minister for Energy.
