President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in five new ministers following their approval by Parliament earlier this week. The ministers, part of a second batch to be confirmed, include:

Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs

Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry

Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts

Emelia Arthur, Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture

George Opare-Addo, Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment

The appointments were confirmed by Parliament on January 21 and 22.

During the swearing-in ceremony, President Mahama urged the new ministers to meet the expectations of the public and deliver on their mandates. “All eyes will be on you, and I strongly believe you will rise to the occasion,” Mahama told the newly appointed officials.

This brings the total number of ministers sworn in to 11, with six others taking office on January 22, 2025.

Additionally, Parliament has approved the nomination of Muntaka Mubarak as Minister for the Interior, pending his swearing-in. Regional ministers-designate for the Northern, Oti, Volta, and Eastern regions were also approved by the House.
