Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a leading sanitation company and part of the Jospong Group of Companies, has awarded a special recognition to Salifu Ibrahim, a sanitation worker who returned GH₵20,000 he found during his daily duties in the Tamale metropolitan area.

Mr. Ibrahim, a beneficiary of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), discovered the money in a waste bag while working. Rather than keeping the cash, he immediately informed his colleagues, took the money home for safekeeping, and waited for the rightful owner to come forward. After a few days, the owner contacted the company, and Ibrahim returned the full amount.

In honor of his integrity, Zoomlion presented Ibrahim with a reward package, which included a motorbike, an undisclosed amount of Ghanaian cedis, and U.S. dollars. The company also flew him to Accra for the first time and provided accommodations at a luxury hotel.

Dr. Ato Sarpong, a board member of the Jospong Group, praised Ibrahim’s honesty, calling it a rare act in today’s society. “His act of godliness has enhanced the global reputation of Zoomlion and the Jospong brand,” he said, adding that he hoped Ibrahim’s example would inspire others to follow suit.

Haruna Suleiman, Northern Regional Public Jobs Coordinator for Zoomlion, highlighted Ibrahim’s work ethic and dedication, noting that he had been with the company for eight years without issue.

In his remarks, Ibrahim explained that despite never having owned such a large sum of money, he couldn’t bring himself to keep it. “I thought about the need to reset Ghana together. I couldn’t spend someone’s money and tarnish my reputation,” he said.

Zoomlion’s recognition of Ibrahim underscores the company’s commitment to fostering values of integrity and responsibility within the workforce and the broader Ghanaian community.
