Kurt Okraku, president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has received clearance to contest for a seat on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee, after passing the organization’s mandatory integrity test.

Okraku, who made the announcement via his official Facebook page, expressed his excitement about the opportunity, writing, “Thrilled to share that I have been cleared to contest for a place on the Executive Committee of CAF, after successfully passing the integrity test. Excited for what lies ahead. May God guide us through this journey!”

The GFA president is running unopposed for the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU B) position and is set to be confirmed during CAF’s Elective Congress on March 12, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt. His candidacy underscores his commitment to improving African football governance, drawing on his experience leading the GFA.

The upcoming Elective Congress is set to be a pivotal event for African football, with key elections scheduled, including the selection of the CAF President and representatives to the FIFA Council for the 2025–2029 cycle. Dr. Patrice Motsepe, the incumbent CAF president, is running unopposed for a second term, while several high-profile figures, including Isha Johansen of Sierra Leone, Hany Abou Rida of Egypt, and Amaju Melvin Pinnick of Nigeria, are competing for spots on the FIFA Council.
