Social activist and lawyer Oliver Barker-Vormawor has apologised for comments that appeared to suggest members of the Appointments Committee took bribes from ministerial nominees.

Appearing before the committee on Wednesday, 29 January, after being summoned, Barker-Vormawor clarified that his social media post was not intended to damage the reputations of its members.

He also expressed his willingness to remove the post. “I want to make it clear that my post was not meant to disparage any member of the committee, and I did not intend to suggest that members received or demanded bribes,” he said. “For these reasons, I apologise, and I am happy to pull it down, as clarity has now been provided.”
