Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has visited former Bank of Ghana (BoG) Governor Dr. Ernest Addison, following an unexpected and unsettling raid by National Security operatives at his private residence.
The raid, which took place on the morning of March 19, has raised alarm across the country. Sources indicate that a team of heavily armed men, allegedly led by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, descended on Dr. Addison’s home in Roman Ridge around 5 a.m.
According to eyewitness accounts, the operation saw about 15 soldiers arrive in three separate vehicles, rifles in hand. Upon entering the premises, they immediately disabled the CCTV cameras and demanded that the former Governor reveal hidden “vaults” within his property.
Despite their intense questioning, Dr. Addison reportedly denied having any such hidden treasures or illegal caches of money on the premises.
The sudden and forceful nature of the operation has sparked widespread concern and condemnation, with many questioning the legality and motive behind such an aggressive move. As the investigation continues, the episode has left citizens grappling with fears over the increasing militarization of state operations.
