President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated John Dramani Mahama following his projected victory in Ghana’s 2024 presidential election.

In a phone call, President Akufo-Addo commended Mahama on his decisive victory and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring a smooth transfer of power on January 7, 2025.

“I remain committed to facilitating a seamless transition process,” President Akufo-Addo said, pledging his administration’s full cooperation with the incoming government.

“On behalf of myself and my government, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his victory in the 2024 elections,” Akufo-Addo said. “The people of Ghana have made their choice, and it is incumbent upon all of us to respect that choice and work towards a peaceful transition.”

The outgoing president also acknowledged the efforts of the electoral commission and other stakeholders in ensuring the integrity of the election, and assured the public that the transition process would be carried out with the utmost professionalism.

Akufo-Addo’s congratulatory message comes as Mahama, the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is set to return to office after winning with a margin of over one million votes.
