In his final State of the Nation Address to Parliament on Friday, January 3, 2025, outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo addressed allegations of corruption within his administration, asserting that all claims had been thoroughly investigated and dismissed where necessary.
Akufo-Addo pointed to the establishment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) as a cornerstone of his government’s anti-corruption strategy. Despite early scepticism, the OSP has gained recognition for its role in promoting transparency and accountability, the president noted.
“Through robust institutional reforms and unwavering commitment, we have fortified the structures to enhance transparency and accountability,” he said, expressing confidence that these efforts would continue beyond his tenure.
Akufo-Addo also highlighted Ghana’s economic performance, stating that the country’s economy had surpassed initial expectations, despite facing significant global and domestic challenges.
